Computer Purchase Recommendations
Purchasing a computer is a big decision and can be an overwhelming experiece for many first time buyers. In an effort to help answer some of the most common questions we receive from incoming students and their parents, we have put together this purchasing guide.
Battle Of The Ages: Mac vs. PC
Many incoming students and their parents want to know which type of computer should I purchase: A Mac or a PC? The simple answer is: it does not matter, it is strictly a matter of preference. Both Macs and PCs are supported on our network. Here are a few things to keep in mind when deciding what to purchase:
- Price: Macs are more expensive; PCs are less expensive, both are compatiable with our network and will perform the same functions.
- Support: Support for Macs is very limited. Although Macs do not have many problems, when they do break it's usually due to a hardware malfunction.
- Preference: Both Macs and PCs perform roughly the same functions, but with different software packages. Students and their parents should choose a computer that best fits their style.
The Bottom Line: Both Macs and PCs are compatiable with our network. You should purchase the computer that best fits your needs and preference.

- Operating System: We recommend that PC users purchase Windows 7 Home Premium.
